The Avalon Mills From John H Price & Wife
This deed made by John H Price and Wife Mary H Price of the county of Rockingham to The Avalon Mills of the county of Rockingham Witnesseth:- That the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of two hundred dollars in hand said by the party of the second part receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain, sell, and convey unto the parties of the second part it's successors or assigns forever the right of way and the rights and privilege to maintain a dam across the Mayo river along near the John M Gallaway line & P.L. & Mfco (Piedmont Land and Manufacturing Company) about 500 and perpetually raise on back the water to the Norfolk & Western Railway bridge or the back water from an 18 foot dam without being liable for damage to the parties of the first or their successors or assigns by reason of injury to the land or the land of either of them lying above said dam in any manner whatsoever. To have and to hold said easement and privileges to the said party of the second part on witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the 14 day of October 1899
